Ad Nauseam - Brainstorm E.P.

I'd been going to post this for a while, then when I googled it I saw a few people had posted it before. But have it anyway.Nation On Fire has posted the album and a few of the tapes as well.
If you look at the last post you'll see this Porstmouth outfit on Rectify's thanks list. This stems from the fact that Ad Nauseam supported the Subhumans in Ebbw Vale back in 82, and friendships were forged. Classified Protest supported them a few times down on the South Coast.
Great E.P. Gruff vocals. You can't beat a tune about the old Iron Lady.

Rectify - 20th Century E.P.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

What's that I hear you say? Stop plugging gigs no bugger can get to, and play some more music you old bastard. No need to be so rude, but I heed your call. Anyway, Classified Prtotest's last line up changed their name to Rectify, & this was the first vinyl result. The 20th Century E.P. Belting little single self released on Taff Core records. Mudgey played guitar & did the art work & is sadly no longer with us. Pig now This System Kills, did the vocals & Wedge now of Four Letter Word, played the drums. Where Footy is now i'm not sure, but he was a solid bass player and all round top bloke. Worth the admission for 'Countdown' alone.

Faslane Peace Camp Punx Picnic

Photobucket
The gig Peroxide organised tonight, went rather well. Some good sets. Post 84 had to pull out last minute, but were replaced with the rather fine Gung Ho (some shared band members & stuff). Kryophere were excellent so reports say. Anyway nigh on £200.00 was raised for Faslane, & if your in that area next weekend, your in for a treat. Check flyer.

Like it says on the tin. Should be an entertaining evening. Check previous Post 84 post.

Masskontroll - Flexi

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Masskontroll, from Portland U.S.A., with a flexi disc (I love these things) from 1994 on Consensus Reality records. Limited top 2000 copies. What you'd expect from Portland with three tracks of Disorder/E.N.T. inspired noise. Track 2 'Kill Your T.V.' is not a Ned's Atomic Dustbin cover. Just warning you like.

Play Dead - T.V. Eye

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

One of me favourite bands, Play Dead from 1981, with their second single, on Fresh Records, (great Label Fresh) T.V. Eye.
I used to have the shirt with Bat on, which I wore for years. First saw them supporting Killing Joke on the 'Fire Dances' tour, still one of the best gigs i've been to to this day. We were supposed to be staying at the house of Demented Are Go guitarist (who one of our mate's knew) but when we turned up he said there was too many of us and we ended up sleeping rough in a playground.
Once gave Play Dead's drummer Whiff a lift when he was hitching. It was just after they had split up, and I saw this guy at roundabout near Oxford who looked familiar. I was going to High Wycombe, (where I lived at the time) and this guy said he was going to a drumming audition in London. Killing Joke came on the tape deck & he said he'd once played with them in Cardiff (noticing the old twang like). Penny drops! Grabs the leather jacket off the back seat. Proudly shows Whiff the Bat badge on the lapel. Really nice guy. Wonder if he got the gig? Whiff if your out there. I doubt you remember that lift as well as I do!

Post 84

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Welcome again, to me round up of all things South Walian, I think deserve the attention of you lovely people in Peru. Really good young band, from Pontypridd South Wales, Post 84. Remind me a lot of Icons Of Filth or The Fits. They're currently looking for gigs for their June tour, so if you can get 'em a gig drop them a line on their my-space. Click logo.
Playing a benefit gig, organised by Peroxide (blog Photographer), for the faslane peace camp on, Friday April 25th 2008 @ the dyffryn, Aberbargoed. So book your flight from Peru today. Or maybe start rowing (carbon footprints innit!).
Check out the video. I really like this.

The Dark - Chemical Warfare

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

A request of sorts. It's amazing what blogging can make you do, for some mad Scots bloke you've never met. The Dark, with their only L.P., Chemical Warfare.
They seem to be largely remembered these days for the track "The Masque" which seems to crop up on various Goth comps from time to time (and featured hereon this L.P.), but The Dark had far more in their Arsenal than that. They had with strong links to the Anarcho scene, recording often at Southern Studios.
After they split in 1982 Langham went on to join Action Pact and later formed Anagram Records, the Punk Rock offshoot label of Cherry Red. He died at the age of 27.
Fresh Records.
If you like it. Buy a copy of The Best of The Dark From Captain Oi! Nuzz will tell you how good they are.

New Model - Chilean Warning

No it's not New Model Army. Not the New Model Army we all know & love (well I know & love anyway). Both bands did share the same name for a while though I seem to remember before this lesser known outfit dropped the Army part of the name. Only ever heard this single by New Model, which Peel played quite a lot when it came out. Anyone know if they released anything else? Plying the same sort of vein as they're better known namesakes. Great obscurity this from 1983.

Undead - Violent Visions

Another early eighties cut for in the the shape of The Undead, on Bristol's Riot City Records 1982.
The B Side of this I particulary like, always put me in mind of a rougher Crisis. Always like it when you here proper U.K. terminolgy on a record, 'get back to yer houses/In front of your tellys'. Underated band.
If you like this sort of stuff go over to Nation On Fire where Gabe is blogging like a demon even as I type. He's posted some great stuff over the last few days, or Punk Belongs To Punks who's posted the Undead L.P. If you like a bit of UK 82 like what I does, give 'em both a go. Fantastic stuff on both.

Anti Establishment - Future Girl/No Trust

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Ok, lets have a bit of early 80's type stuff, from the Rat Scabies produced, Essex Bois, Anti Establishment. Corking little single this. Probably set you up about £20 plus on the old e-bay. Alternatively you could just buy the Collection C.D. from Captain Oi! click cover. Although it's called The Oi! Collection, the sound is more akin to early Damned, (Rat Scabies influence?) Slaughter & The Dogs or The Wasps. I likes it.

UK Decay - The Black Cat E.P.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Few people have been asking for an upload of this, so here you go. Become a little signature tune over the last few months, so when your completely sick of it give us a shout.
Uk Decay's 'The Black Cat E.P.' which features 'Disco Romance'. That this band have no re-issues out there, to me, is verging on criminal. Fantastic stuff. Dead Kennedy's support band, back in the day. This may well be a Highlander rip, over at Cactus Mouth Informer. Pay him a visit. A few more U.K Decay tunes & some spot on politics. His Korean is a little rusty, but we'll let him off on that.
You need this in your life. Which is why i've been shoving it down you throats for the last six months.

Millions Of Dead Cops - TJ's Newport 3/4/08

Went to see M.D.C. last night, along with fellow blogger Bernard from Nuclear Farmed Fuck Frogs. A pleasant evening it was to. Support from FUK. Gabba from Chaos U.K.'s latest venture. Saw them supporting The Exploited over a year ago but enjoyed them a lot more this time. Bristol/Scandi/Jap influenced noise. Cider violence. Nice.
I've been to quite a few gigs in the last few weeks, but a have to say MDC were the best band i've seen in a while. Tight as hell, and relentless.
All the classics churned out at breakneck speed. Apologies if the images are not up to the normal standard, but P.O.P.'s regular photo-journalist decided she had to sort out the tee pee fr the Summer (hippy scum), so it was left to me to do the honours. So most of the pics look the same. With Beddis from the Cowboy Killers doing the olde' Punk Rock disco, in between bands it was a cracking night. I was probably last to leave.... You know how it is.
I also got to buy a new MDC klan/cop t-shirt for £8 quid. A Punk Rock classic in my book. Should you bump into me anywhere in the next 12 months I will probably be wearing it.
Another repeat, I know, but the classic MDC single on Crass records, (in the U.K.) Multi Death Corporations. Go!

Cowboy Killers - Press & Run Like Hell

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The only other blog that ever had this posted previously, was the now sadly defunkt Sounds Fair. As it's sadly disappeared of the face of the earth, I thought i'd give everyone another shot at it.
Newport legends the Cowboy Killers with the L.P. 'Press & Run Like Hell'. Cowboy Killers singer Beddis is apparently working on new material with Rich former Novocaine guitarist which I can't wait to hear.
In the meantime get yer ears round this. Features a great cover of 'Jesus Entering From the Rear'. by the Feederz which featured on the Alternative Tentacles L.P. 'Let Them Eat Jellybeans'.
