Concrete Sox - Your Turn Next

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

At the forefront of the British hardcore/crust punk movement of the mid to late eighties Nottingham's Concrete Sox. Debut L.P. from 1986, on Bristol's 'Children Of The Revolution' records. Lovely riffage! And you knows you needs a bit of riffage in your diet. Innit.

Thanks for reminding me of this - I really liked the Sox musically but I found the faux American accent a bit annoying at the time. I've just dug out my vinyl copy of this again, cleaned it, stuck it on the deck and thoroughly enjoyed the resulting noise that came out of the speakers. So much so that I followed it up straight away with 'Whoops! Sorry Vicar!'.

Cheers for the memories :D

Funny how when you back to things you've had on your shelf for years, that they can sometimes sound completely different and you cant understand why you havent loved them all along. Glad it prompted a new l;ease of life for the vinyl! Cheers for comments.

Haven't listened to these in a while either. Actually, I almost completely forgot about this band. I remember now that they put out a cd in the early 90's on Lost and Found. (I think that it was called No World Order) That was the last thing I ever saw from them.

Have the first two on cassette and as soon as I get a turntable, I will have to listen to the Sewerside lp. Don't remember what that one sounds like at all. I will upload it as well, if it hasn't been posted by then, that is.

Thanks for dredging up old memories. This still sounds good to me.

Dredging up old memories! I kinda like that! I'm a memory dredger!
I think this sounds better now than it did at the time to be honest. Whether my taste in music has changed or not I dont know. But I think time has been kind to this.

when I lived in Bruges together with a friend, Concrete Sox came over to sleep the first night for their tour (Sewerside period). We lived above a sandwich bar with so-called open-minded people but were they shocked when they saw a whole bunch of dirty punx coming down the stairs!
Went to visit drummer Andy Sox (not on this album)a few times in Derby. Great guy!
